Membership Tour A604 Rebuilding Tips

2001 A604 Differential Carrier Design I've reposted this picture for those who didn't get to see this because of a bad link. I did a couple of 604's this past week with bad diffs. We bought used ones from our hard parts supplier,and they sent these new design diffs. They are a closed design. The retaining pin that holds the shaft in is gone. The shaft is held in by brackets at each end and bolt to the ring gear flange. One of the diffs(in picture)has 4 slots on passenger side to allow oil to the spider gears, and none on the other side. The second one I got had 4 smaller slots on passenger side and 6 or 7 slots on drivers side. It appears that this diff is 2 pieces pressed together at the ring gear flange. When ring gear is off you can see a split around the flange. On the second one we recieved they forgot to send one of the brackets so we had to order one from the dealer, they told us that this a 2001 part.
