Harold Field, a Christian Character
2 Peter 1:3-9 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

A man may possess all the out workings of an impeccable moral character, and the longer you know Harold Field the more stunning appears his consistency of character in every aspect of his life from family, friends, business, to ministry, but all that does not confirm that it is a Christian character on display. Many men might take up and build that good conduct of morality, religion, and work ethic if it suits their selfish ends, we know their name as hypocrites or worldly wise. Their good works do not affect what lasts forever. No, a man who lives with all the best of character we could hope to see, and Harold’s character shines like a light in the darkness for all to see, may still in the end be revealed as a professor of Christianity only and not a possessor of Christianity who knows the Christ.

There is a mark that the hypocrite can never contrive with hopes to deceive; it is the mark of love. In the King’s English, “charity” and the hypocrite will not, even can not pay the price to display that mark, it’s against his nature. The kind of love which marks the real possessors of Christian character is born only in those that keep closest company with the One who’s own hands bear the forever marks of love, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13. Harold Field loves God on God’s terms, as He reveals Himself in the Bible. He trusts in Christ’s righteousness by faith, and out of love for his Savior he is obedient to Him. That love displays itself in a real honest consistent good character that loves people enough to do right, at all cost and for the right reason, God’s glory!

My name is John Trabucchi, Harold is my Christian brother who by his gracious friendship helps me to stand. His is a character that will stand in Christ on The last Day as it stands today, in love.
