ATSG CONFIRMED FIX - SEPTEMBER 2022

2011 Chevy HHR 2.4L 4T45E

Complaint: 4T45E transmission making a growling noise running in park and neutral, and goes away when put in gear. Noise will start again while moving and follows engine speed.

Cause: faulty drive sprocket and drive sprocket support bearing.

Correction: replaced the drive and the support bearing.

Year Make and Model of the Vehicle: 2011 Chevy HHR 2.4L

Mileage: 102,430

Shop Name: Warren Transmission

Transmission: 4T45E

Additional Notes: when vehicle was first brought in the tech assumed it was the converter so they built the unit and replaced the converter without checking anything further. After reinstalling the unit the noise was still there. Prior to reinstalling the unit they should have had the converter checked first and it would have saved them a lot of time and money by avoiding having to take the unit back out of the vehicle.
