Is it an nv4500, or a 47re?

I'm certain the front bearing and race are bottomed out and the rear bearing is seated. The rear retainer sits about .060 from bottoming out on case. If I tighten the retainer it binds the shaft and i already ruined one bearing trying to pull it together. I'm tempted to put some washers under the rear retainer to get some endplay but gosh don't want to. Anybody ever comer across this?
