Ryan,
I've got its bigger brother a UA80F in here in a Lexus RX and im also digging for some info. I came across this during my search and appears there are two critical sealing rings for the converter circuits in this trans and could be related.
Take a look:
https://www.transmissiondigest.com/inside-toyota-ua-ub80e-torque-converter/
I suspect my unit has the input side bound up as I get no turbine rotation rpm via the speed sensor under any condition. Vehicle will roll in neutral but will not move in any driven gear while running. Feels like its in gear or almost like it's in park. I've not seen before. I'll make another thread here shortly.
I know Chris was working on one of these recently. I forgot what he had going on.

Subject: TRNW-2: UB80E question.
I have a UB80E, and the converter looks smoked. Fluid Is black. Unit looks OK other than that. My question is do the converters fail on these or is there another reason this one is cooked? Stator bushing and rings look ok.
