My thoughts are throw a valve body at it,which I'm sure you have already looked into. Googling tells me used ones are almost as much as a whole core, which sort of says they are having valve body problems. They sure ain't cheap. I'm also sure you have already tried it,but are their any adapt resets?

First thing that comes to mind is software updates, second would be valve body wear.

850RE out of a Dodge, actually 2 of them that I built that seem to have the same issue, but since I only have one of the vehicles here, I will discuss that one. The vehicle will attempt to make a 1-2 shift, it feels like it may change ratios for a split second then will command back to first and set a 1st gear ratio code, after that no further gear changes. The only things that happen on a 1-2 shift is the C clutch comes off and the E clutch applies. This unit has new C and E drums, they are correct size, proper clearance, they will aircheck tight through the shaft and when assembled, aircheck through the case. A scanner movie shows the C solenoid coming off and the E solenoid coming on at the proper time. I have confirmed by my own pics from last year and also from ATRA pic, the VB is correct. It has the white and orange solenoids which I cannot test, but I swapped solenoid positions which changed nothing. I have been into this unit twice and can find nothing wrong. The E ! drum was stripped when originally built. I am concerned that I maybe have built something into this unit but can find nothing. Any thoughts would be appreciated, sorry for the long post. Pat.
