misses the real reason we don't change high mileage fluid. Transmission
fluid is classified as detergent. It's job aside from transmitting force
and lubrication/cooling is to carry debris to the filter. Filters are only
good down to 70 microns (.002755") at best. Particles smaller than this
pass right through. Those particles are removed from the fluid by
precipitation and centripetal force inside rotating components. we've all
seen this stuff built up in the drums. This is a highly effective form of
filtration. When new unsaturated fluid is introduced into the high mileage
unit the cleaning process is renewed and the fluid attempts to grab onto
the particles that have precipitated out and take them to the filter.
These particles often find their way into places they should not be and
damage is done. There is certainly more to this but you get the point. I
would like to think this article is not about drumming up business, but you
know how business is: IT HAS NO CONSCIENCE, profit is all that matters.
Please treat the customer like you would want to be treated.
