TRNW-2: 10R80, Adaptive learning

Chris,

This makes good sense. A way to test IF the adaptive system is causing issues. I’ve not had the reason to use it yet on a Ford.

I’d like to have it on a few dodges. I’ve had more than a few causing cvi issues resulting in hard shifts which were all related to pcm tcm issues.

I have used it for diagnostic purposes, it only stops adaptive learning for that ignition cycle. We have a 6f50 with a hard 2/3 shift after oh. Reset adaptives and it was smooth, the thing is learning to shift hard for some reason. If I stop adaptive learning it will keep working good for that whole drive cycle. Still haven't gone back through the unit yet to see the root cause.

Not really trying to accomplish anything, Dan. Just saw it on 10r80 video's and thought it strange that you could cancel adaptive learning. Just finished installing a 6r80 and was looking thru the scanner for resetting adapts and saw that it had a line for canceling adaptive learning. What's the reason for doing that???

I know I've seen this present in the Ford IDS, but like Tod I have never used it as I'm unsure the circumstance for use. Maybe a way to diagnose?

2021 will use FDRS, so unsure if it's there. I have a 2020 in the shop and can check.

What are you trying to accomplish?

Can the adaptive learning be turned off? Just bought a 2021 f150 5.0 and trying to learn everything about it
