As Pat said airchecking through the shaft and case works for me. A quick google of 10R80 airchecks shows the passages.
I only replace blown rings on these from the sleeve walking

I have the sizers for the rings, but on occasion will leave the factory ones in place if its a low mileage unit with no burnt clutches, just did that yesterday on one with 90k miles, clutches were like new, valvebody was the issue with the unit. the sizers I have are made by VMS Concepts , they work great,

I check them on the shaft as well as through the case and have found that they are air checking better since getting the 3D printed sizer set, but still get the odd one that I need to add fluid to get to air check well. I like being able to air check the drum itself to at least eliminate anything within it as being the cause of the poor air check. I’m sure that I am due for trusting that my slight cross leak air check is the rings, only to find out it is a cut seal or cracked piston. Just added insurance I guess.

Why not just check them through the shaft? Maybe I don't understand. I know some may find differently but I am starting to find they aircheck dead tight leaving the original rings in place. I am in the process of testing now. I check them on the shaft when building and then through the case when finished.

Good afternoon everyone. I am wondering if anyone like Richard Wardell is making an aircheck tool for the 10R80, like his 6L80 tool that I've had for years? I think I saw a video with Richard or someone else using said 10R80 tool and I keep forgetting to ask if he is making them? Thanks for any help.
