I do these alot, Dodges and Beemers
Easy unit, All Gravy except like mentioned already, the D-Clutch Seal takes some work. You need a new piston but dont need the tooling.
Transtec has the pistons and bolts for the small and big units.
I use mostly OEM/ZF parts, seals and frictions.
Pressure plates (A+D) (Sonnax) are highly recommended.
Sometimes High Mileage Units need a Valvebody which comes with TCM integrated, which makes it (very) expensive.
Replace Aluminium Front Cover Bolts and Seals.
Replace Planet #3, good or bad, on early units with plastic washers

Replace D-Drum with new or Sonnax. Sonnax version has steel hub now, preventing the D frictions from digging into the soft alu hub.

Have fun!

> Hello group. New to me are the 8spds. This is a 2wd with a 3.8. Had a stored code 732, 2nd gear ratio. Cleared the codes and drove it. Has all the gears. Initial thoughts were the 1-2 was firmer than the rest of the shifts. They were extremely smooth. The warmer it got I started to get a flair on the 2-3. It does have 169K on the odo. There is very little in the fix database. Thanks for your time and any insight you can provide.
