Parts are high and an expensive unit to work on currently.
We just had a 2017 Jeep GC with a 845RE with poor reverse and 4TH gear troubles when hot. Fluid was burned. We suspected the D clutch had a bad seal as it would work ok cold but as soon as it warmed up, it couldn't manage. The D clutch lip seal is not readily serviceable w/o special tooling as its riveted to the drum.

E clutch splines like to wear and strip out, but aftermarket is well covered for this part. This causes no 2ND gear.

Check with your local dealer as a reman unit for this application was dirt cheap less than $2k core exchange making overhaul a no go. Worth checking.

Hello group. New to me are the 8spds. This is a 2wd with a 3.8. Had a stored code 732, 2nd gear ratio. Cleared the codes and drove it. Has all the gears. Initial thoughts were the 1-2 was firmer than the rest of the shifts. They were extremely smooth. The warmer it got I started to get a flair on the 2-3. It does have 169K on the odo. There is very little in the fix database. Thanks for your time and any insight you can provide.
John
