TRNW-2: 68rfe caged spring assembly

I used to use them over, and never had a problem. But I guess I just got cantankerous, and have just been replacing them here lately. I got afraid a tab would break off and screw something up. (But I have yet to see it ever cause a problem) It seems like for a while every 68RFE I did had a broken tab.
Next broken one I see I'll try breaking off the rest of the tabs. That sounds like a good idea!

Agree, I have put many back together with 1 broke, I have not seen 2 or more broke but we don't do a lot of trucks.

Forgot to say, 1 broke I work with it. 2 or more, break them all. Same install method.

I see it a lot. Like Pat said, $66 ouch! Patience and the green disc that come in the Transtec kits is what I use.

The spring assembly between UD molded piston and balance piston in the input drum assembly, where the tabs break off, at one of the shops I talk to, they break the rest of the tabs off and run it. Do any of you do this? I have always been getting new OE caged spring assemblies.
Thank you,
Brett
