We build the original units and do not update any programming and have no
issues. If you are installing a unit from a different vehicle that may be a
different story. I would not be afraid to drive it to the dealer.
When we do install a used unit (Carmax), same story, we do not program.
The only reason we would program any of these would be if they had a judder
code.
